Endometrial cancer is the most common gynaecological cancer in high-income countries and
the second most common worldwide.

A study from the University of Bristol found that for every five additional BMI units, a woman's
risk of uterine cancer nearly doubles (88% increase).

It was shown that a high BMI throughout life causes an increase in uterine
cauterization. Strong evidence was found for a mediating role of fasting insulin, bioavailable
testosterone, and SHBG in the effect of BMI on endometrial cancer risk. These results suggest
that the control of hormonal and insulin-related traits is a potential strategy for the prevention
of endometrial cancer.
