What is Dysbiosis?

Your body is full of colonies of harmless bacteria known as microbiota. Most of these bacteria have a positive effect on your health and contribute to your body’s natural processes.

But when one of these bacterial colonies is out of balance, it can lead to dysbiosis. Dysbiosis typically occurs when the bacteria in your gastrointestinal (GI) tract — which includes your stomach and intestines — become unbalanced.

Our patient’s personal Review :

Taking the initial step of having a Dysbiosis test was one of the best decisions I have recently made. For years I had suffered from diarrhoea, bloating, abdominal pain, fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, joint and head aches and an overall sense of feeling unwell. These symptoms became increasingly debilitating and were extremely uncomfortable.
Over the years of suffering I incurred increasing levels of food sensitivities which caused me great discomfort and confusion, seriously affecting my daily life.
Recently I read an article in the Female Focus magazine outlining the effects of Dysbiosis, a condition whereby there is an imbalance of good and bad bacteria naturally growing in our digestive tract. When there is an imbalance it leads to Dysbiosis which has a knock on effect to our health.
The article written by Clínica Britannia lead me to make an appointment with their gut health specialist Dr. Mera.
A Dysbiosis test was carried out, nothing horrible or invasive!! A simple poo sample went off to their laboratory to be analyzed. As a result I received a substantial, comprehensive 18 page report containing an analysis of many key markers outlining the normal scope of a healthy gut and where my reading was in relation to these. Dr Mera, giving me much invaluable information, talked me through the easy to understand report, which led to a full personal diagnosis (something my previous Drs. and hospital examinations had been unable to give me) and a treatment plan which included me taking various naturally derived medicines and making a few dietary changes.
After following the advice of Dr. Mera for 3 months I took a further Dysbiosis test which revealed things were changing for the better due to the treatment. I was starting to feel better, with a most important factor being that at this stage the daily diarrhoea had stopped.
It has been 8 months now since my first Dysbiosis test and the subsequent treatment. The results are fantastic, I have experienced a considerable weight loss, have a much better clarity of mind, feel like myself again, have no more debilitating diarrhoea, joint or headaches, bloating and have so much more energy.
I suffered for many years and have found that so many others suffer with similar symptoms.
I would definitely recommend that people seek the specialist help and advice of Dr. Mera at Clínica Britannia in Calpe and to undertake a Dysbiosis test.
